This is me and my Dad. We are at Bethany Beach, where my American family has gone to ever since I can remember. We always have a lot of fun building castles, going for walks, and ALWAYS at least once we bury Dad in the sand. At least 6 of every 7 days, my cousin Desmond and I chase after runaway surf and boogie boards. We have a lot of fun diving into the ocean and giving the boards back to surfers. On the odd occasion that no one claims it, we prop it up in the sand, and start chasing after another board. I have great memories of getting Ice Cream with my cousins, and if our parents rent a house together, we sometimes make forts. We also have a Weaver/Lash Family Fun Run. Also, my Grampie makes blueberry, or chocolate chip pancakes, and we ALWAYS have fun eating them with our family.. What family traditions do you have?🌊🏄
Well...we have the same tradition! Since I was 20 years old, I have gone to Bethany Beach. Delaware! Now, I am 66, so that make 46 years of going there! I have a lot of the same memories. I look forward to when you can come to the USA in the summer and we can go together again. I remember one time I was on a boogie board and I felt a pinch on my foot. A crab had bitten me! I never saw the crab, but that is what I assumed bit me! I love going down to the beach in the evening and seeing the sun set. Flying kites is fun to do also. This post makes me miss you, but I am so glad that you have memories of the beach with us. That is a really cute picture of you and your dad! Love you! Grandma
ReplyDeleteAww, I love this post because it reminds me too of my favorite times at Bethany Beach! I love the ocean SO much even though I am not a very good swimmer... I love walking on the beach! I can't wait until we are all at the beach again together next... maybe next summer when you are 12?! -Abigail
ReplyDeleteYeah!
DeleteDear Lily,
ReplyDeleteA day at Bethany Beach sounds so fun with you. My first visit to Bethany Beach was when I was 22 years old. As soon as we arrived, your Uncle Jacob, Elijah, and I (and I think maybe Tim and Ezra too) all agreed to do lots of sit-ups every day in order to be fit. I did way too many sit-ups at once and had a terribly sore belly the next day. I didn't have to worry about doing any more sit-ups though because I developed a high fever and was locked away in a small bedroom the rest of the week. I was originally sharing the room with Uncle Jacob, but he wisely moved to sleep in the sunroom with Ezra, Tim and Elijah while I quarantined myself before it was cool. Next time I'll try to follow your itinerary for a fun time at Bethany Beach.
